gollark: There are also "security" changes in Android 11ish which would stop Termux from working (if it updates to the corresponding API level).
gollark: And for even more !!FUN!! each device has its own vendor-provided kernel which is never updated.
gollark: On desktop Linux, I can fit a bootable system onto a small USB stick and happily run it on any modern x86 device. On Android, every device needs its own monolithic system image which is nightmarish to compile.
gollark: My device *is* rooted, which was really not a very pleasant process. But the entire Android architecture appears like a horrible locked-down mess.
gollark: I mean, Android is "Linux". Yet it's horrible and you basically can't do anything.
