Humaira Arshad

Humaira Arshad or Humera Arshad (Punjabi, Urdu: حمیرا ارشد) is a Pakistani pop singer from Lahore.[1]

Career

She started her career as an actress in PTV Home's television series Ainak Wala Jin (a PTV show for children in the 1990s) where she played the role of Toofani Nagan.[2][3]

She is a folk, pop, culture, and ghazal singer who has been classically trained.[2] Her albums are Choori Kach Di and Gal Sun Dholna. Humaira says she used to accompany her mother to majlis for soaz khwani from an early age. She also musically trained under Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for some time.[3]

Personal life

She married film actor Ahmed Butt in 2004. Ever since they got married, their turbulent relationship had been in the news with many separations and then marital reconciliations later. On 2 November 2016, their latest reconciliation was reported in a Pakistani newspaper.Their marriage frequently made headlines, both Humaira and Ahmed were publicly seen abusing each other, either verbally or physically. Despite all of the public conflicts they stayed married until 2015 when Humaira filed for a divorce but after the second divorce, they reunited.[5][6]

On 23 April 2019, the feuding couple seem to have finalized their divorce and Humaira Arshad reportedly said to the news reporters that this time divorce was done after mutual understanding and that they did it for the future of their young son. Humaira also said she wanted to focus on her singing career now. Ahmed Butt got the custody of their young son and has plans to move to the United States with their son.[7][8]

Awards and recognition

  • 'Pakistan Achievement Award' in 2015. She was given this award at a ceremony in London by an organization called 'Pakistan Achievement Awards UK and Europe'.[3]
