Himalayan University, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh ,India (Bhaaratham) is a non-profit university recognised by University Grant Commission under section of 2f of UGC act 1956. The university was established to develop and uplift the economy through higher education to raise the literacy rate that make up North Eastern part of India. The University is accredited and recognised by AICTE, PCI, BCI and RCI ,CCRYN and is also a member of AIU, AIMA, CII and P.hD Chamber.

Second convocation
The second convocation of the Himalayan University (HU) here in Papum Pare district was held on Friday with Hon'ble Education Minister Shri Taba Tedir, Education Special Secretary Shri Santosh Rai, Capital SP Shri Tumme Amo, and PWD Capital Division EE A Shri Tana Nikam Tara in attendance. The ceremony was presided over by HU Vice-Chancellor, Dr HS Sharma.
Reading out the university’s annual report, the VC informed that 1702 degrees in different streams at the UG and the PG levels would be awarded this year, in person and in absentia. “The Himalayan University is spread over 23 acres of land, with campuses in Chimpu and Jollang. The university started with 55 students in 2013-14, and is currently having more than 3500 students,” he said. Shri Taba Tedir awarded the gold medals to the toppers.
In his convocation address, the Hon'ble Education Minister highlighted the various schemes of the government, and said the present state government “is dedicated to enhance the standard of education, from the primary to the higher education level.” Shri Santosh Rai in his address advised the students to “focus on their target and work hard to achieve it.” Shri Tumme Amo spoke on the importance of discipline and health, and urged the students to refrain from using “abusive substances.”
First convocation
Himalayan University conducted its 1st Convocation on 22-Dec-2017 at its campus in Jullong, Itanagar. Around 410 alumni were entitled to award with degrees from different disciplines including arts, commerce, b.ed (spl)(edu), science, library science, social work and many more. The occasion was graced by attending the programme by Swami Vishweshananda from RK Mission Hospital Secretary as chief guest and by Shri Ravinder Sathe from Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini as Guest of honor where they direct the students to do best in their career and not to forgot the learning taught by Himalayan University while implied in every phase of life and they also added few lines in their speech that students need to identify their potential and greets with best wishes for their future endeavor.
Himalayan University Annual Sports Week 2017
Himalayan University had celebrated its Annual Sports Meet 2017 on 1-Dec-2017 to 4-Dec-2017 where Shri Tapir Gao, BJP President (State) of Itanagar had visited the occasion as Chief Guest with Shri Tapuk Taku, Minister of Tax & Excise as Guest of Honor where they directed the students to study hard and to do best in their career and awarded the students with medals and trophies. Around 400 students participated in the games including Long Jump, High Jump, Football and Badminton. The main vision of conducting annual sports day is to invite the students and all faculty members to get introduce with each other through the mode of games and cultural activities.
UGC-DEB Approved Himalayan University To Offer Distance Programmes
In order to provide easy access and quality educational resources to the students of Arunachal Pradesh, Distance Education Bureau of University Grant Commission has granted approval to Himalayan University for offering 5 programmes – BA, B.Com, MA(History), MA (English), M.Com through Distance Education mode for January 2020 session vide notification F. No. 1-11/2019 (DEB-I) dated 30-12-2019. This is the first State Private University in the State of Arunachal Pradesh to be bestowed with the responsibility of reached the unreached and geographically challenged. This step should help integrate the North East Region with the mainland; one of the initiatives of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
