Heteractinida
The Heteractinids are a grade of sponges that are paraphyletic with respect to Hexactinellida.[1] Their distinctive trait is their six-pronged (snowflake-like) spicules, whose symmetry historically suggested a relationship with the triradial Calcarean sponges.[1] Nevertheless, they actually represent a polyphyletic grade, from which the hexactinellids arose.[1]

gollark: Yes.
gollark: Supreme leader. I was elected to that role.
gollark: ALSO NOT THE POINT.
gollark: That is NOT THE POINT and you should realise that. Fortunately I can delete messages on my end with some inspect element hax.
gollark: Anyway, see, you can't be trusted as the leader because you *apparently* don't understand that you probably shouldn't just wave NSFW stuff in people's faces.
