Club career

Kirtley made his debut for Sunderland on 16 April 1949 in a 1–1 tie against Manchester City at Maine Road.[1] In his career at Sunderland, he made 101 appearances and scored 18 goals during 1948 to 1955.[1] From Sunderland he moved to Cardiff City where he scored 4 goals in 38 appearances in one season.[2] He then returned to the North East with Gateshead, he played 96 times and scored 14 goals up to leaving in 1960.[2] He had a short stint with Welsh side Rhyl before retiring, and settled in Rhyl afterwards.[2]

Kirtley died in 2007 and current chairman of Sunderland, Niall Quinn, said "It's always very sad when we lose a member of our Sunderland family."[3]

gollark: It's not really a Rust problem as much as a my-code-implemented-in-Rust problem, but basically the fractal generator program randomly introduces blotches of various sizes of really different colors to the rest, which the Haskell thing it is based on does not do, and I have no idea why.
gollark: Well, you wrote DDGBot, no?
gollark: <@!330678593904443393> You use Rust a bit, please help.
gollark: The release build is stupidly fast compared to the foolish haskell code.
gollark: Anyway, while my code does not, strictly, work properly, at least it does it very fast.
