Gulfport High is a level "5" school as rated by the S.A.C.S. Committee. The mascot is the Admirals. School colors are royal blue, orange, and white. The helmet insignia is a replica of the Green Bay Packers "G."
History
The original Gulfport High was built in the year 1923, and the current Gulfport High School was founded in 1967. In the year 1966, Gulfport East was built. The first g classes in Gulfport East were made in 1967, which were fully integrated. Then on the year 1978, the two schools were merged, forming the current school that we know today.
Academics
Gulfport High School currently has the highest composite ACT score in the state of Mississippi, which is a 21.[2] Students at Gulfport High School have the option to take Advanced Placement classes and also have access to career readiness programs, known as the Institutes. Gulfport High School requires it students to complete a higher number of credits than the state requires in order to graduate, and Gulfport High offers 3 different kinds of diplomas.

New construction
A fine arts building, a 9th-12th grade academic building, and an athletics field house were under construction in 2016.[3] When the construction is complete, there will be more cameras and fewer exits; the cost of the construction is 46 million dollars, and it was to be completed in August 2017.
Extracurricular activities
Gulfport High School is host to several clubs, organizations, and sports teams. Gulfport currently participates in 6A football,[4] basketball, baseball,[5] volleyball, swimming, track, softball, tennis, soccer, bowling, golf, and powerlifting.[6] In addition, GHS also has a marching band,[7] choir, orchestra, theatre group, and Marine Corps JROTC[8] program.
Gulfport High School also has several business and work related groups, such as a Fire and Police program, DECA, Auto Mechanics team, FIRST Robitics team, Debate Team, Model U.N., Youth Legislation, and a Quiz Bowl team.
Security
Gulfport High School currently has two SRDs that work on campus, as well as multiple camera systems inside the buildings. The school also has multiple exits; however, once the new construction is complete, there will only be two entrances.
