Graham Cowdrey
Graham Robert Cowdrey (born 27 June 1964) is a former English cricketer. He is the third son of the cricketer Colin Cowdrey and his first wife Penny Chiesman. He was born in Farnborough in 1964 and educated at Wellesley House and Tonbridge School. After one year as a student at Hatfield College, Durham, Cowdrey chose to embark on a professional career.[1] He played for Kent County Cricket Club as an attacking batsman in first-class and List A cricket from 1984 to 1998.[2]

A supporter of Christians in Sport, he toured India twice with them on fundraising journeys. Cowdrey is well known for his love of Russian and French literature. His favourite authors are Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mikhail Sholokhov and Emile Zola.
He has two sons, Michael and Alexander, and a daughter, Grace. His nickname of "Van" came from Van Morrison, his favourite musician.[3]It is reported that he has seen Morrison in concert over 250 times worldwide. His favourite song being ‘And the healing has begun’.
Cowdrey works as a Cricket Liaison Officer for the England and Wales Cricket Board.[4]
