Gordon Kirkland (coach)
Gordon Ashby Kirkland (July 26, 1904 – June 23, 1953) was the head football along with baseball and basketball coaches and athletic director for Catawba College from 1934 to 1948.[1] During his tenures, he led his teams to eight North State Conference football titles, nine basketball crowns, and two baseball championships. He was a graduate of Elon College.[1] He is a member of the Catawba College, Salisbury Athletic and North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.[2]
