GenesisCare

GenesisCare (not to be confused with Genesis Health System of Iowa, or Genesis HealthCare of Pennsylvania) delivers treatment to people with cancer and heart disease, the two largest disease burdens globally. They’re the largest provider of cancer and cardiac care services in Australia, and have cancer treatment centers in the United Kingdom and Spain. They lead and participate in many clinical trials.

In December 2019 they announced that U.S. provider of radiation therapy and integrated cancer treatments, 21st Century Oncology, is expected to become part of GenesisCare in 2020. In addition to the acquisition, GenesisCare plans to invest an additional US$300m in the U.S. over the next three years, targeted towards an expansion of treatment options for patients, including installation of state-of-the-art equipment and an expanded clinical footprint.[1]

The organization employs more than 2,500 highly trained healthcare professionals and support staff across Australia and Europe. It treats more than 160,000 people a year in more than 130 locations. There are 14 cancer centers in the UK, 21 in Spain and 37 in Australia, with more than 30 new centers under development. They offer cardiology and sleep services at more than 80 locations across Australia.

The company was founded by CEO Dan Collins in Brisbane, Australia in 2005, and is today owned by doctors and employees, together with leading private equity fund, KKR, and China’s largest hospital operator, China Resources Group. [2][3]

The company is head-quartered in Sydney, Australia with major operations in Europe. It went through a rebrand in 2018, where all parts of the organization took on the united name, GenesisCare. They were previously known as Genesis CancerCare QLD, Genesis CancerCare WA, Cancer Partners UK, Adelaide Cardiology, HeartCare Partners, Bundaberg Cardiology, HeartCare Victoria, HeartCare WA, Genesis SleepCare, and GenesisCare Espana.

Australia

GenesisCare sees more than 150,000 cardiac, cancer and sleep patients a day in Australia. They currently have 37 oncology centers in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland. They also offer cardiology services at more than 130 locations across Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland. They also provide sleep and respiratory services in Western Australia and sleep services in Queensland.

England

GenesisCare's origins in the UK began with the launch of a cancer treatment center in 2009, as Cancer Partners UK. Cancer Partners UK became part of GenesisCare in 2015. They offer diagnostics, radiation therapy (also known as radiotherapy in England), chemotherapy and wellbeing services in 14 locations, with several new centers under development.

In June 2019, GenesisCare was the first in the UK to provide access to cutting edge theranostics treatments outside of a clinical trial[4], in July 2019 the organisation announced plans for a center of excellence for radiotherapy and well being at the Cromwell Hospital in London[5], and in November 2019 acquired the Spire Oncology Center South West in Bristol and the Spire Specialist Care Center in Chelmsford, Essex from Spire Healthcare.[6]

GenesisCare also announced a 10-year research partnership with Oxford University in 2019, and began providing treatment using an MRIdian MR Linac, capable of precision targeting of tumors. A first priority of the partnership will be the use of this MR Linac at GenesisCare’s center in Oxford, along with research into new clinical planning techniques.[7] This is the first MRIdian available for patient treatment in the UK.[8]

Spain

GenesisCare has been operating in Spain for almost 30 years. They currently have 14 centers across Spain delivering cancer treatment for patients. In 2016 GenesisCare acquired IMOncology and Grupo Oncosur, making it the largest provider of specialized oncology services in Spain. [9]

"I" would be stuck as a slug with a vague longing for missing things "I" can't actually understand- it would work fine because ??? handwave and I'd be stuck in the constant barely-not-dying state of all wild animals for several years, probably incredibly bored and stressed at the same time, until I die of some wild animal thing.
