Galinsoor, also spelled Gelinsoor, is a town in Galmudug state of Somalia, Located in the North-central Mudug region.

Etymology

Galinsoor is one of the last named districts of the Galgaduud region of Somalia. It lies border between Mudug and Galgaduud regions and has the main road that connects most of the regions of Somalia. The town's name is derived from two Somali words: Gelin and Soor. Gelin means either "half of the day", "afternoon" or "before noon"; Soor means "hosting guests". Thus, Galinsoor refers to a place where guests were hosted.

Location

Galinsoor is located near the border with the central Galgaduud region. It lies between Galkayo, the capital of the Mudug region, and Galgaduud's Cadaado District also Galinsoor is the Capital of Kulmiye Region in Galmudug State of Somalia, Galinsoor is very important strategic Town as Geographic System in Somalia.

Galinsoor is served by a police station. It also has two hospitals.

The town has a Community Center. Additionally, it has two boreholes.

Demographics

The city is primarily inhabited by people from the Somali ethnic group, with the Sacad sub-clan of Habar Gidir, well represented.
