Gali Penchala Narasimha Rao

Gali Penchala Narasimha Rao (Telugu: గాలి పెంచల నరసింహారావు) (1903–1964) was a representative of the first generation of music directors in Indian cinema. He is also known as Gali Penchalaiah.

He has debuted with the Telugu version of Seetha Kalyanam in 1934.

Sri Krishna Leelalu (1935) was his another musical hit film. It was starring Saluri Rajeswara Rao as Bala Krishna, who later became the most successful Music directors of South Indian cinema.

Sashirekha Parinayam, also known as Maya Bazaar was his next film. Vivaha Bhojanambu song in 1957 version Mayabazar is originally tuned by him for this 1936 film.

Pendyala Nageswara Rao has worked as Hormonist for Mayalokam in 1945.

His music has contributed to the success of Balaraju (1948). The songs Cheliya Kanarava by Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao and Evarine Nenevarine by S. Varalakshmi are melodies attracted many those days.

His most successful film was also his last film Sri Seetha Rama Kalyanam (1961) by N.A.T. Pictures. The songs tuned for the marriage of Sri Rama and Seetha are very often played during the many marriages of Telugu people. Seetharamula Kalyanam Chootamu Raarandi song really shows the beauty of lyrics and melodious tune.[1] He wrote and published two music books viz., "GANAKALA" and "GANAVARIDHI". He also composed 300 Tanavarnas with full notations (swaras) and 1000 keerthanas in Telugu. They are in different ragas, different talas and rare ragas also. He created many new ragas and composed varnams and keerthanas in them. Two books namely Sangeetha Kalanidhi Book – 1 (Varnams) with 18 varnams and Sangeetha Kalanidhi Book – 2 (Krithis) with 24 krithis were compiled by his only son Shri G.M. Shobanath, and released on 30 December 2017 in Tatvaloka auditorium #76, Eldams Road,Teynampet, Chennai -600 018 in the presence of esteemed guests Madurai Shri G.S.Mani, Dr. R.S. Jayalakshmi, Shri V. Ram Narayan,and Shri Charukesi.
