Gaetano Vetturali

Gaetano Vetturali (1701–1783) was an Italian painter.

Biography

He specialized in imaginary landscapes (capricci) also called paesaggios or veduta (landscapes) with architecture and figures.[1] Gaetano was born in Lucca. His initial training was in Bologna. He studied first under Giovanni Domenico Brugieri and Giovanni Domenico Lombardi, the former pupil of Maratta and the latter of Marracci. Subsequently he moved on to study quadratura with Ferdinando Galli Bibiena in Bologna, and figure painting with Vittorio Bigari.

He was strongly influenced by Canaletto.[2] In 1759, he decorated the apartment of the Gonfaloniere in the Palazzo della Signoria in Lucca.

gollark: We already have some automation for the "writing boring chunks of glue code" side of programming by throwing somewhat poorly optimised language models at it.
gollark: Just how short *is* your expected life expectancy?
gollark: No, I don't actually do any electronics ever. I've heard there are fairly good ones now.
gollark: I'm not sure that specifically is much of a barrier though, parsing horribly inconsistently formatted form-type things is fairly tractable now.
gollark: I see.
