Friedrich Kittel
Dipl.-Ing. Friedrich Kittel[Notes 1] (19 December 1896 – 24 March 1973) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Friedrich Kittel was captured by American troops in May 1945 and was released in 1947.
