Ford Bronco Sport

The Ford Bronco Sport is a compact crossover SUV to be sold by Ford starting in December 2020[4] under the Bronco nameplate.[5][6][7] It was released alongside the Bronco truck-based SUV, featuring a similar retro and off-road styling in a smaller footprint.[8] The Bronco Sport is based on the same underpinnings as the Ford Escape, riding on the same C2 platform, and sharing its suspension setup and engines.[9] Production is planned to start on October 26, 2020.[10][11]

Powertrain

Engine

The Bronco Sport has two engine options. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter Ecoboost I3 engine producing 181 hp (184 PS; 135 kW) at 6,000 rpm, and 190 lb⋅ft (260 N⋅m; 26 kg⋅m) of torque at 3,000 rpm. The Bronco sport is also available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecoboost I4 engine producing 245 hp (248 PS; 183 kW) at 6,000 rpm, and 275 lb⋅ft (373 N⋅m; 38.0 kg⋅m) of torque at 3,000 RPM. Both engines are mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission.[12][13]

All-wheel drive system

The Bronco Sport comes equipped with an all-wheel drive system with G.O.A.T Mode. The G.O.A.T Mode allows the driver to select different terrains for the AWD system. The Bronco Sport has four wheel independent suspension. It has a twin clutch rear differential that can act as a rear differential locker, and has torque vectoring. Unlike the Bronco, the Bronco Sport does not have a low range transfer case. Instead of having traditional bump stops in the front, the Bronco Sport has hydraulic bump stops. The Bronco Sport has the tow capability between 2,000–2,200 lb (907–998 kg) depending on the engine.[12]

Trims

For launch, the Bronco Sport is available in 5 trims. However the First Edition trim is only limited to 2000 units at this time.[13] All trims come standard with G.O.A.T Mode, a flip up rear glass and rear flood lights in the tailgate. The 8 in infotainment system with SYNC 3 is standard across all trims.[14]

Base

The base model comes equipped with the 1.5 L Ecoboost engine. It comes with 17 in steel wheels. It features a 4.2 in digital gauge cluster.[15]

Big Bend

The Big Bend model comes equipped with the 1.5 L Ecoboost engine. it comes with 17 in aluminum wheels. It features a 4.2 in digital gauge cluster, and a Navigation system is optional.[16]

Outer Banks

The Outer Banks model comes equipped with the 1.5 L Ecoboost engine. It comes with 18 in aluminum wheels. It features a 6.5 in LCD digital gauge cluster, and Navigation system is optional. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is optional.[17]

Badlands

The Badlands model comes equipped with the 2.0 L Ecoboost engine. It comes with 17 in aluminum wheels with 235/62/R17 All-Terrain off road tires. It features a 6.5 in LCD digital gauge cluster, and Navigation system is optional. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is optional.[18]

First Edition

The First Edition model is based on the Badlands trim and comes with the 2.0 L Ecoboost engine. it comes with 17 in aluminum wheels with 235/65/R17 All-Terrain off road tires. It features a 6.5 in LCD digital gauge cluster, and Navigation system is standard. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is standard. This model is limited to 2000 units and as of 7/31/2020 reservations are full.[19]

Along with the regular options, Ford is also offering Bundles on all trims with certain accessories. The four bundles offered are: Bike, Camp, Snow, Water.[12]
