Fern, Iowa

Fern is an unincorporated community located in the thirty-second section of Beaver Township, Grundy County, Iowa [1]. It lies on Iowa Highway 14, 4.16 miles (6.69 kilometers) southwest of Stout, Iowa, and 8.48 miles (13.64 kilometers) north of Grundy Center, Iowa. The hamlet contains a feed store named Fern Feed & Seed and goes under the zip code of 50642. Fern had a post office that opened under the name of Andersonville on June 22, 1892, until it was discontinued on December 31, 1907. The name was changed from Andersonville to Fern on March 20, 1894.
