Fastweb

Fastweb is an online scholarship matching and college search service. Founded by entrepreneur Larry Organ[1] in 1995, Fastweb is an acronym for "financial aid search through the web". In 2001, Monster Worldwide, which also owns other websites such as FinAid.org and Military.com, announced that it had acquired Fastweb in an effort to reach into higher education oriented sites.[2]

Reception

Though sometimes touted among lists of scholarship search tools,[3] Fastweb has received mixed to negative reviews from NAAS Consumer News[4] and from multiple other reviewers[5] such as CBS News MoneyWatch for showing students many ads while using the website, and generating "zero promising matches for users".[6]

gollark: ```🚨 /home/osmarks/Programming/skynet/node_modules/cbor/lib/map.js: unknown Statement of type "ForOfStatement"```
gollark: I'm trying to get the CBOR library skynet uses to run, but due to the stupidity of all JS tooling the compiler just outputs a ridiculous error.
gollark: Parcel is a nice zero-configuration bundler, except the zero-configuration approach and the fragility of the JS ecosystem means it just broke for no reason.
gollark: Ugh, I'll just use webpack and make myself suffer probably more.
gollark: Well, skynet itself is in Rust, but the web UI is JS-based, obviously.
