Online learning controversy

In March 2019, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia threatened to revoke VIU's license to operate in the Commonwealth of Virginia after an audit found rampant grade inflation and severe deficiencies in the academic rigor of VIU's online courses.[6]

In June 2019, the State Council reached an agreement with VIU to allow the college to continue operating on the condition that they shut down its distance education for at least three years.[7]

gollark: Are you unaware of "all mesh networking ever"?
gollark: The internet does routing, as far as I know, in a mostly noncentralized way through something something BGP. IP addresses are centrally allocated, but they don't *have* to be done that way (although the design of the routing stuff requires it I think?).
gollark: If they know other people on the network you can connect through them.
gollark: People you know somehow?
gollark: The internet itself doesn't really depend on a central authority, also.
