This particular Fabric release created excitement in the electronic music community, since Michael Mayer (as part owner of Kompakt records) had previously released most of his dance compilations on his own label. Fabric 13 contains many tracks released on the Kompakt label - giving it a distinctive German "kompakt" sound.

gollark: I mean, modern codecs are very good.
gollark: In a sense, all programs are wrappers around syscalls, or at least all the ones which run inside OSes.
