Estrella Damm

Estrella Damm is a lager beer, brewed in Barcelona, Spain. It has existed since 1876, when August Küntzmann Damm founded his brewery in Barcelona, and is the flagship beer of S.A. Damm, a prominent brewery in the city. The brand is the oldest in Spain[1][2] and the name Estrella means "star" in both Catalan and Spanish. Estrella Damm is available in many countries, including Australia, Brazil, Peru, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Croatia, Greece, Ukraine, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, South Korea, Taiwan, Georgia, Honduras and the UK in a 4.6% version. In the United States, it is available through United States Beverage, LLC.[3] Despite its name, Estrella Damm should not be confused with another Spanish lager, called Estrella Galicia.

Sponsorship

During the heyday of baseball in Spain in the 1950s and 1960s, S.A. Damm sponsored a local baseball team, Picadero Damm. In 2007, Estrella Damm was one of the major sponsors of Emirates Team New Zealand, a challenger for the America's Cup who won the Louis Vuitton Cup.

In 2009, the globally acclaimed chef Ferran Adrià, Juli Soler and sommeliers Ferran Centelles and David Seijas from El Bulli Restaurant created a luxury bottled lager beer called Inedit for Estrella Damm by mixing blend of lager and wheat beer styles, then a combination of barley malt, wheat, hops, coriander, orange peel, yeast and water. Inedit means "unprecedented".[4]

In 2012, Estrella Damm aired its first UK commercial, which features the band Billie the Vision and the Dancers and was set in Menorca.

During the 2019 professional tennis season, Estrella Damm sponsored both ATP and WTA tournaments in Spain.

Estrella Damm also sponsors the National restaurant awards along with holding the Estrella Damm gastronomy congress on the same day.

gollark: Usually it's my extremely janky WiFi network failing, but it seems to be working fine today. I'll tracepathize it.
gollark: It might be that, or my internet connection. I can't really tell.
gollark: I can't actually do anything except move around slightly. I would have assumed it was a network issue, but htop says I'm only doing a few tens of KB/s.
gollark: I am experiencing brokenness.
