Essential Teachings is a book by the 14th Dalai Lama. It is a translation of a series of talks first delivered in India. These talks took place in 1974, but this is the first English translation. The talks were in Tibetan, and published under the title Enseignements essentiels in 1974 and again in 1987 with the title L'Enseignement du Dalai-Lama The French translations were closely followed, but the glossary was expanded in the English version.
