Emma Brunjes

Emma Brünjes is a West End theatre producer, talent manager and ticket agent. She runs the live entertainment firm ebp and is the producer of the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.[1] In 2017 she was listed alongside Les Enfants Terribles as number 87 in The Stage 100 theatre power list, but has not been featured in this list since.

Career

She has been described by the Evening Standard as a "Producer with clout who’s making her stage presence felt in West End theatre".

Brünjes started acting as a student at Windlesham School in Brighton. Her first performance was playing the Red Queen in her school's production of Alice in Wonderland.[2] While a student at the London School of Economics Brünjes worked briefly as a waitress at Henry's in Covent Garden and then moved on to become an usher at the Royal Opera House.[3]

She started at Avalon Management as a junior marketing assistant,[4] where she worked alongside well known comedians including Frank Skinner, Harry Hill and Al Murray. At the age of 25, she was made head of promotions at the company.[2] In addition to her full-time work at Avalon, Brünjes also held a part-time position as a producer for Old Vic New Voices.[3] After working at Avalon Brünjes spent three years working with producer Nica Burns of Nimax Theatres. Brünjes served as Nimax's general manager of productions and programming.[5]

Brünjes founded ebp in 2013. The firm keeps an office in Covent Garden. Her cricket-mad younger brother Ralph serves as the firm's commercial director.[5]

Her credits include Dead Funny, Olivier Award nominated Alice’s Adventures Underground, The Twits, and Freddie Flintoff’s 2nd Innings Tour. Brünjes also hosted The Game's Afoot at Madame Tussaud's.[5] She has worked on 25 touring productions in the United Kingdom and the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. In 2015, Brünjes produced a show featuring her father, Dr. Henry Otto Brünjes at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was called Dial Medicine for Murder and told the story of Dr. Harold Shipman and Dr. John Bodkin Adams.[5]

Alongside The Limelight Group, she planned to build The Buzz, a brand new immersive theatre venue in Elephant & Castle, London. As of October 2018 The Buzz has cancelled all planned programming, it is unclear whether it will ever open.

Awards

Brünjes won the Old Vic New Voices new production award for Artefacts in 2006, won the Stage One Bursary award in 2007, and was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2016. She was also listed on the Stage 100 list back in 2017.[3]

Education

Brünjes is a graduate of the London School of Economics where she read government and history.[5][3]
