Ellington Agricultural Center

The Ellington Agricultural Center is an agricultural center in Nashville, Tennessee, US. It is home to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and the Tennessee Agricultural Museum.

History

The 207 acres of land belonged to the Ewing family since the 1800s.[1] In the 1910s, Brentwood Hall was built for Rogers Caldwell, a prominent businessman across the Southern United States.[1] When he was convicted of fraud, his estate was seized by the state of Tennessee and turned into this center.[2] It was named after Buford Ellington, who served as Governor of Tennessee from 1959 to 1963 and again from 1967 to 1971.[1]

The center is home to the headquarters of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, and the Tennessee Agricultural Museum.[3] It has a long frontage along Sevenmile Creek, an arboretum, an iris garden, and a hiking trail known as The Rogers Trail.[3] It hosts the Annual Rural Life Festival, organized by the Tennessee Agricultural Museum.[3] It also serves as a wedding venue.[3]

gollark: I think there are significantly larger issues than climate change going on anyway. Such as, how do you make governance actually work well? If you can solve that many of the other things follow.
gollark: I mean, if it's profitable it would happen, but it doesn't seem to be since renewables are pushed harder and there's tons of bad nuclear regulation.
