El Septimo Cigars

El Septimo is a premium cigar produced in Costa Rica and based in Geneva, Switzerland.

History

The company was founded in 2005 and acquired in 2019 by the Younan Company.[1][2]

Initially, this cigars were only found in Europe, but became worldwide after the acquisition, with stores in 14 countries in 4 different continents.[3][4][5] El Septimo was developed to counteract the trend enforced upon the cigar industry by a growing global demand of cigars, with the decreasing of quality control, downgrading of crops and speeding up of production by the major cigar brands.[6][7][8] The objective was to produce a premium cigar developed with tobacco leaves grown in the adequate climate and geological conditions, with the best production techniques, and with attention to details.[3][9]

The name "El Septimo" symbolizes the seventh day of creation in which God rested and appreciated His work, the idea is that El Septimo should represent the joy and privilege of being alive.[10]

El Septimo tobacco plantation is located in Costa Rica,[11] near the city of San José, in a mountainous valley 3000 meters above sea level.[1] The plantation doesn't use any intensive farming technique, it's rain irrigated and free of any preservatives or chemicals.[10][12]

Only 10% of the entire production of leaves is handpicked selected and aged from 5 to 15 years, in white rum barrels. The cigars are blended and hand rolled using the traditional Cuban rolling technique. The final process takes place in Switzerland were the packaging is done, and the last quality-control procedure occurs.[13] The packaging is inspired by the Art Deco movement, with the combination of fine materials and bold colors.[14]

El Septimo has 40 different cigar blends that come in five different collections: The Diamond Collection which consists of tobaccos aged for 15 years, The Luxus Collection which offers 11 different blends aged for 10 years, The Alexandra Collection which was launched by the company in 2019[1][15] and offers a line developed for women and aged for 10 years, The Travel Time Collection which pays tribute to some of the world's most famous cities and is aged for 7 years, and The Gilgamesh Collection, which offers the brand's first 50 gauge cigars, aged for 7 years.[16][17][15]
