Design and development

The Excel was designed as an advanced and competition glider. It can be fitted with thin cross-section lines to reduce drag for competition flying.[1]

The models are each named for their relative size.[1]

Variants

Excel S
Small-sized model for mlight-weight pilots. Its 11.89 m (39.0 ft) span wing has a wing area of 23.79 m2 (256.1 sq ft), 63 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.93:1. The pilot weight range is 70 to 90 kg (154 to 198 lb). The glider model is DHV 2-3 and AFNOR Competition certified.[1]
Excel L
Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its 13.12 m (43.0 ft) span wing has a wing area of 29.09 m2 (313.1 sq ft), 63 cells and the aspect ratio is 5.93:1. The pilot weight range is 95 to 125 kg (209 to 276 lb). The glider model is DHV 2-3 and AFNOR Competition certified.[1]

General characteristics

  • Crew: one
  • Wingspan: 13.12 m (43 ft 1 in)
  • Wing area: 29.09 m2 (313.1 sq ft)
  • Aspect ratio: 5.93:1

Performance

  • Rate of sink: 1.1 m/s (220 ft/min)
gollark: I addressed this.
gollark: I don't get why we even have indices. Low-level details like that are a relic of the past when we had to consider "memory allocation" and "choosing data structures" and "performance".Enter the glorious future. Just use persistent linked lists or hashtables.
gollark: Fibonacci indentation is better.
gollark: What happens if one library has offset 0, one has offset π and one has offset -1.6?
gollark: Do not have arrays. Only have hashtables, indexable by strings.
