Donald Gotterbarn
Donald William Gotterbarn is a computer ethics researcher. Gotterbarn received his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 1971 from the University of Rochester.[1] He also earned his M. Div. from the Colgate Rochester Divinity School.[1]
Professional career
Gotterbarn is an author of the Software Engineering Code of Ethics and Professional Practice which promotes ethics among software engineers.[2] He is the chair of the Association for Computing Machinery Committee on Professional Ethics.[3]
Gotterbarn is a Professor Emeritus at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.[2]
Awards
- ACM SIGCAS Making a Difference Award, 2002
- For research and work regarding computer and software engineering ethics.[2]
- Outstanding Contribution to the ACM Award, 2005[2]
- "for exceptional accomplishments and leadership as both an educator and practitioner, in establishing the ACM's Codes of Ethics and promoting the ethical behavior of computing professionals and organizations."

gollark: Also eternal youth/relatively good health, but I figure you would basically have to have that for immortality anyway.
gollark: That's higher than average life expectancy basically everywhere, and for much of it you are an old person and unable to do much.
gollark: I mean "immortality" as in "will not randomly die of old age and such", not "live for an infinite amount of time", which would have problems.
