Dave Yost

David Anthony Yost (born December 22, 1956) is an American lawyer and politician who currently serves as the 51st Attorney General of Ohio. He previously served as Ohio State Auditor, Delaware County Auditor from 1999 to 2003, and County Prosecutor from 2003 to 2011.

Education

Yost graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Capital University Law School.[1]

Career

After earning his bachelor's degree, Yost became a journalist with the Columbus Citizen-Journal.[2] He later served in senior positions within the administration of Columbus Mayor Buck Rinehart and Ohio Governor George Voinovich.[3] Yost was appointed Delaware County Auditor in 1999.[4] In 2003, he became the Delaware County Prosecutor.[5]

In September 2019, Yost was one out of nine State Attorneys General that launched an antitrust investigation into Facebook and Google, to investigate whether or not they were stifling competition in their respective fields.[6][7]

Personal life

Yost and his wife, Darlene, live in Franklin County, Ohio. They have three children and three grandchildren.[8]

Electoral history

Yost was elected Ohio's 32nd state auditor in November 2010.[9] In January 2017 he announced he was running for Ohio Attorney General in 2018.[10]
