Darwin 2009: A Pittsburgh Partnership
Darwin 2009: A Pittsburgh Partnership was a year-long celebration of the life and work of Charles Darwin and his impact on modern science, that was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2009. The event was spearheaded by the Regenerative Medicine Partnership in Education to celebrate Darwin’s 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his work, On the Origin of Species.
The Regenerative Medicine Partnership in Education partnered with the following institutions in the Pittsburgh area to create and host a variety of educational events that focused on evolution and Darwin’s contributions to science:
- Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium
- The National Aviary
- Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
- Children's Museum of Pittsburgh
- The Carnegie Science Center
- The Carnegie Museum of Natural History
- The Carnegie Libraries of Pittsburgh
- Entertainment Technology Center of Carnegie Mellon University
