Career
Born in Wales to a Welsh mother and a Sierra Leonean father, Wilson played rugby union for Cardiff RFC as a fly-half before moving north to play professionally in rugby league.
Wilson once scored five drop goals in a match for Swinton.[5]
Wilson won five caps for Wales while at Swinton, in 1981–82 and 1984.[1]
Family
Wilson is the father of former Manchester United and Wales footballer, and as of 2018 the Wales manager Ryan Giggs,[6] who was christened Ryan Joseph Wilson but as a teenager changed his surname to that of his mother.[6] Giggs is said to have inherited his balance and athleticism from his father.[6] [7]
