Damen Stan Lander 5612

The Damen Stan Lander 5612 is a landing craft designed by Damen Group.[1] Damen's convention for the model numbers of its designs is that the first two digits are the vessel's length, in metres, while the last two are its beam.

The vessels are equipped with a large loading crane, and can be used to transport dozens of standard-sized shipping containers.[1] They have a landing craft-style bow loading ramp, for wheeled vehicles, and can carry a mixture of shipping containers and wheeled vehicles. Vessels are designed for a crew of 16.

The Bahamas commissioned a special set of shipping containers which contain the basic components of an emergency hospital, for disaster relief, specifically to be deployed by its lander, HMBS Lawrence Major.[2] When a serious fire struck a remote island the Bahamas used Lawrence Major to transport a fire engine to fight that fire.[3][4][5]

In addition to the Bahamas, Bolivia, Venezuela and Panama have purchased vessels.
