Cupra el-Born

The Cupra el Born was first unveiled in 2019 as the SEAT el Born all electric car concept from the Spanish car manufacturer. It was to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show later in March 2019, as a concept car, with sales planned from 2020.[1] The production version was revealed in July 2020, under the new sub brand by SEAT, as the Cupra el Born.[2] First deliveries are expected in 2021.

The el Born is based on the Volkswagen Group MEB Platform, and will be manufactured at the plant in Zwickau in Germany, alongside the Volkswagen ID.3, which shares the same platform. The el Born is named after an neighbourhood in Barcelona.[1]

el Born Concept

The el Born Concept was unveiled under the marque of SEAT, and was fitted with a 62kWh battery pack with a claimed 420 km (261.0 mi) range (WLTP). The car is powered by a 204 PS (150 kW; 201 bhp) electric motor, able to accelerate to 0–62mph in 7.5 seconds.[3] The battery is compatible with 100kW DC supercharging and features a thermal management system.

It features driver assistance systems capable of autonomy of Level 2, for the control of steering, acceleration and deceleration.[4]

el-Born Production Model

Production of the el Born was confirmed in July 2020, and would be sold under the Cupra sub brand.

It will feature a larger 77kWh (82kWh gross) battery pack, compared to the smaller 62 kWh battery in the concept car.[5]
