Club career

Belgrano

Romero began his career with Argentine Primera División side Belgrano in 2016,[3] his debut came on 28 August in a league match with Independiente.[1] A month later, Romero played in both of Belgrano's 2016 Copa Sudamericana round of sixteen ties against Coritiba.[1] In two seasons with Belgrano's first-team, he made nineteen appearances in all competitions.[1]

Genoa

In July 2018, Romero joined Genoa of Serie A.[1] Romero scored his first senior goal in his second Genoa match, netting in a 2–2 draw with Udinese on 28 October; in which he was later sent off in.[1] Juventus, on 9 July, announced Romero was having a medical ahead of a proposed transfer.[4]

Juventus

Loan to Genoa

On 12 July 2019, Juventus announced the permanent acquisition of Romero from Genoa for €26 million, with the player remaining at his former club on loan for the rest of the season.[5]

International career

Romero has represented Argentina at U20 level, winning seven caps at the 2017 South American Youth Football Championship in Ecuador.[1] In April 2017, he was called up for Argentina's training camp ahead of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea but wasn't selected on the tournament squad list.[6] Romero was called up for the U23s in September 2019.[7]

gollark: Your personal computer probably has basically as much single-threaded performance as the best available ones now, give or take 40%, which is actually quite substantial but oh well.
gollark: That probably doesn't help if your thing isn't already parallel.
gollark: GPU acceleration is hard. Running mostly independent things in parallel on CPU probably isn't.
