Craig Dean (footballer)

Craig Dean (born 1 July 1976) is a former English footballer who played as a left back, his works as the Head Of Emerging Talent for EFL Championship side Leeds United.[14]

He came through the academy of Manchester United F.C. and during his career played for clubs in countries such as the England, Faroe Islands, Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden, Iceland, Malta, Finland and the United States. He also represented England national futsal team during his playing career.

Career

Heading to Napier City in autumn 2004,[15] Dean stated that the standard of the championship was high, comparing it to England's Football Conference[16] before traveling to England to undergo a knee operation, getting back in time for the league clash at home to Auckland City.[17] He reached an agreement with the Finnish Veikkausliiga's TP-47 previous to the 2005 season.[18] He was recruited by Östersunds FK in summer 2005,[19] the defender-cum-midfielder was first fielded in a 1-1 deadlock with Kiruna FF, starting away to Friska Viljor.[20] He set to strengthen the Maltese Premier League's Valletta for the second leg of 2005/06,[21] he was slapped with a red card and suspension on his debut at home to Pietà Hotspurs.[22] A newcomer to the UMF Selfoss in 2006,[23] the Englishman was punished with a one-game suspension for four yellow cards that July,[24] returning to Selfyssingar during 2010 for a course.[25]

Coaching Career

He currently works for Leeds United as Head Of Emerging Talent.[26] He previously worked at Newcastle United as Head Of Football Development between 2007 and 2013, before joining Oxford United as a chief scout in 2014. He has also worked for the Football Association.

Personal life

His father died by a car accident, leaving him bereaved while with Dundalk.[27]
