Career
Code of Honor's first race was on August 18th, 2018 at Saratoga, where he came in first. His next race was the October 6th, 2018 Champagne Stakes where he came in 2nd. He stumbled in the beginning of the race but mounted a comeback.[2]
On March 2nd, 2019, he picked up his first graded win at the Grade-2 Fountain of Youth Stakes, defeating Hidden Scroll in the last half of the race.[3] His jockey John Velazquez called it, "an impressive win".[4]
He came in 3rd place at the March 30th, 2019 Florida Derby and came in 2nd place at the 2019 Kentucky Derby on May 4th, 2019.[5]
Trainer Claude McGaughey had planned for him to take a break if he did not win the Kentucky Derby and he returned on July 6th, 2019, by winning the 2019 Grade-3 Dwyer Stakes. [6]. This was the start of a three race in streak.
His next victory came the month after, when on August 24th, 2019, he won the 2019 Travers Stakes.[7] He won an impressive duel in the final stretch defeating Mucho Gusto and Tacitus at 4:1 odds.
On September 28th, 2019, he won the 2019 Jockey Club Gold Cup after the original winner, Vino Rosso, was disqualified.[8]
He came in 7th at the November 2nd, 2019 Breeders' Cup Classic at 4:1 odds.
He started off his 2020 season with a win at the June 6th, 2020, Grade-3 Westchester Stakes, defeating Endorsed near the end. [9]
On July 4th, 2020, he came in 3rd at the Grade-1 Metropolitan Handicap, while being at 5:2 odds.[1]
