Cinnamon Grand Hotel

The Cinnamon Grand Hotel, formerly called the Hotel Lanka Oberoi,[2] is a luxury five-star hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka.[3] It is one of three hotels in Colombo popular with tourists, along with Kingsbury Hotel and Shangri-La Hotel. The Cinnamon Grand is located at 77 Galle Road, Western Province, Kollupitiya, Colombo.

Terrorist attacks

On 28 January 1984, a bomb exploded in the hotel, then called the Hotel Lanka Oberoi. One employee was killed.[4][2]

2019 Easter Bombings

It was one of the sites of the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings which happened on Easter along with two other hotels including Kingsbury Hotel and Shangri-La Hotel.[5][6] Raadhika Sarathkumar, a popular Sri Lankan born Indian Tamil actress narrowly escaped from a bomb explosion which happened at Cinnamon Grand Hotel where she was present after wrapping up shooting for a film.[7][8]
