Charles Bowman (accountant)

Sir Charles Edward Beck Bowman KStJ JP (born 1961) is a British accountant who served as the 690th Lord Mayor of London.[1][2][3]

As Lord Mayor, Bowman launched the City of London a corporation's Business of Trust programme. This programme seeks to create "a lasting legacy of better business, trusted by society".[4][5][6]

Career

Bowman joined PwC in September 1983. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986 and was admitted to partnership in 1995.[7]

Bowman has specialised in delivering audit and capital market transaction services to large listed and multi-national companies. Among his various leadership roles, he has led PwC's Building Public Trust programme.[8]

City of London

He is an Alderman of the Lime Street Ward and served as Sheriff of the City of London in 2015–16.

Bowman is a member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Grocers and a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.[9]

He was appointed Knight of the Order of St John in January 2018[10] and was knighted in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to trust in business, international trade and the City of London.[11]

Personal life

He is married to Samantha, a veterinary surgeon and liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen. They have two daughters, Grace and Charlotte.[2]
