History
In June 2016 after the legal firm that represented PFC CSKA Sofia - PFC CSKA EAD - went bankrupt and a new one was formed to represent the club, restructuring those of PFC Chavdar Etropole and PFC Litex Lovech in order to take part into the newly created First Professional Football League, part of the fans did not comply with this procedure and founded a new club of their own - FC CSKA 1948 Sofia.[1]
The club was founded on 19 July 2016, at a meeting at the Central Military Club in Sofia. The members of the Constituent Assembly announced a partnership with Errea and a new crest, close to the one of CSKA Septemvriisko Zname.[2]
Since 2016 they are disputing the formal and informal heritage of the bankrupted CSKA Sofia. Since then both clubs have been trying to assume control of club's stadium and crest.
The first match between the two teams is going to take place during the first round of the 2020-21 First League season, following three promotions in four seasons for CSKA 1948.
