For what would be the quartet's final recording sessions, Jarrett requested that the other band members contribute compositions. Byablue consisted primarily of Paul Motian's pieces, while Bop-Be included Redman and Haden's contributions.

Reception

The Allmusic review by Richard S. Ginell awarded the album 4 stars, stating, "Highly recommended on LP, since the Middle Eastern tracks were deleted from the CD reissue".[1] This referred to the CD Silence released in the early 1990s.[2] Later in the 1990s, the full album was included in the CD box set Mysteries: The Impulse Years 1975-1976.
