Burnt Candlemas

Burnt Candlemas was a destructive raid by an English army through Lothian conducted by King Edward III of England in retribution for the Scottish victory at the Battle of Nesbit Moor and the subsequent sacking of Berwick by the Scots in 1355. His similar campaigns conducted in France were known as a chevauchée.
