Bubble (programming language)

Bubble is a visual programming language and application platform as a service, developed by Bubble Group, that enables non-technical people to build web-applications without needing to type code. Instead, users draw the interface by dragging and dropping elements onto a canvas and defining workflows to control the logic.[1] Bubble's vision is to make handcoding largely obsolete.[2]

While it is visual it does require some learning, and can be used to create more advanced functionality than what is possible with template-oriented web application builders such as Wix. It is used in schools for education purposes, and by other organizations for commercial purposes.[3][4]

Bubble offers API integrations, Templates and Plugins. The platform has also subsequently introduced new niche providers in templates[5], plugins and service built within the Bubble Eco-System.

History

Bubble[6] was founded by Emmanuel Straschnov and Josh Haas in 2012 in New York.[7][8]

Bubble has been bootstrapped for 7 years.[9] In 2019, Bubble raised $6M from SignalFire, Neo, Nas, Eric Ries and the founders of Warby Parker, Allbirds, Okta, Harry's.[10]

gollark: By "take my money" I mean "not forward shop income".
gollark: You mean *you store the money* (temporarily, but whatever)? I am *definitely* not using that then.
gollark: Then how do refunds work?
gollark: It could take my money when I'm not looking, who knows?
gollark: Well, I am not going to use a shop with a closed-source proprietary backend.
