Career

He played during most of his career for the football club BFC Dynamo where he was East German champion ten times in a row from 1979 to 1988. In the East German top-flight he amassed 344 matches.[1]

Rudwaleit was part of the East Germany national squad for nearly a decade.[2] In the early 1980s he was the first choice goalkeeper of the team until René Müller became the undisputed No. 1.

The BFC goalkeeper played for East Germany at the 1980 Summer Olympics. In the football tournament of the Moscow Games Rudwaleit won the silver medal with his team mates.

He was also known for being unusually tall for a football player in these days – 2.02 meters.
