History

Blairsville was laid out in 1837 by Stephen Blair, and named for him.[3] A post office was established at Blairsville in 1838, and remained in operation until 1902.[4] With the construction of the railroad in 1880, business activity shifted to nearby Wadesville, and the town declined.[5]

Blairsville contains the historic Blairsville Cemetery. A number of the interments are Civil War veterans.[6]
