Reviewing the album's 1967 American reissue, Sepia magazine wrote that same year: "The expressive voice of Jorge Ben is rough-edged, warm, and very Brazilian. Brazilian music and rhythms have pervaded American and European popular music like a gentle rain and Jorge is one of the reasons behind their influence. You will definitely want this one that has 'Bicho Do Mato,' 'Shuffling Along,' and 'Leaving Port.'"[1] Tom Hull was more critical in a retrospective review of the original album, saying Ben "loses this balance, and ham-handed horn arrangements overwhelm the weaker songs."[2]

gollark: Macron 6.3.2i will also expand implicit variables to implicit macro invocations. It will pick the best code based on the entropy of its output.
gollark: It will also let you fuzzy match operators.
gollark: Too bad. Macron 6.3 has it now.
gollark: Regarding the implicit variables: what if you could do `x_` or something and it would fuzzy match?
gollark: It isn't.
