Reception

Writing for PSX Extreme, Cavin Smith viewed Beatmania as an entry in the Beatmania IIDX series, since it featured similar gameplay revolving around seven keys and a turntable.[2] G4's video game show X-Play gave the game 2/5 stars, declaring that the game was a rip-off of the then-recently released Guitar Hero.
