On June 5, Col. Robert Potter, garrison commander at Washington, North Carolina, ordered a reconnaissance in the direction of Pactolus. The 24th Massachusetts, under Lt. Col. F. A. Osborne, advanced to the bridge over Tranter's Creek, where it encountered the 44th North Carolina, under Col. George Singletary. Unable to force a crossing, Osborne fired his artillery (Companies AG, 1st New York Marine Artillery) at the mill buildings in which the Confederates were barricaded. Singletary was killed in the bombardment, and his troops retreated. The Federals did not pursue and returned to their fortifications at Washington.

gollark: Stuxnet wasn't done remotely. They chained together a ridiculous number of zero days to attack the computers the centrifuges were physically connected to and the PLCs.
gollark: It might be fun to use it to generate *maximally* right/left-wing text.
gollark: I would assume that would be a fairly easy machine learning classifier thingy, at least if you had enough text of known wingness to train it on.
gollark: I'm sure *someone* will end up buying it anyway.
gollark: They might mean Stellaris? It definitely has options for enslaving species and such.
