Bashar Momin

Bashir Momin[1] (Urdu: بشر مومن) is a 2014 Pakistani television series directed by Ali Raza Usama.[2] The serial has been written by Zanjabeel Asim[3][4] and produced by Asif Raza Mir and Babar Javed under their Banner A&B Entertainment. It stars Faisal Qureshi, Sami Khan, Jinaan Hussain and Ushna Shah as leads.[4][5]

Bashar Momin, the most expensive drama ever made in Pakistan,[6][7][8] has been extensively categorized due to its explicit genres of jealousy, love, hatred, romance and suspense,[9] The drama was first aired on Geo Entertainment[10][11] on 14 March 2014.[12][13][14] and had its ending episode on 8 November 2014.[15] Due to its popularity, it aired in India on Zindagi under the title Aks.

Series overview

Rudaba is an innocent girl, who is engaged to her father's best friend's son, Buland Bakhtiar. Rudaba is not happy with her engagement, because she thinks Buland who has lived most of his life in America will be a nontraditional person, and she'd never like. Her brother, Adil, is married to Saira, who is a clever and manipulating woman. Saira is the sister of Bashar Momin, a rich money launderer who loves deeply two of his sisters, and wants them happy at any cost. He is looking for a suitable match for her little sister, Tayyaba, whose two engagements have been broken because of his bad repute, as owner of black money.

Rudaba's father and future father-in-law die in a street robbing accident while going for a walk. Adil has no way to contact Buland and carries out the burial. Rudaba, left alone, have now to live with her brother despite her reluctance. In Adil's home, Saira always tries to keep Adil, who's a caring brother, apart from Rudaba.

Meanwhile, 90 crore of Bashar's money is threatened which is stored in Adil's account. Adil and Saira now go to America to save the cash, and Rudaba now have to live in Bashar's house. She's also given responsibility to take care of Pareezay, Adil's daughter. Bashar, angry natured, scolds Rudaba often. But Rudaba's innocent behaviour somewhat impacts his heart.

Buland, worried about his Father not receiving his calls, returns to Pakistan. He learns that his father has died. He meets Rudaba, who falls in love with him shortly. Buland also turns out to be Tayyaba's College fellow. Bashar, now fond of Rudaba, doesn't like Buland's and Rudaba's meet ups. When Tayyaba mentions of Buland as a good person to Bashar, he, now in love with Rudaba, becomes committed to separate Buland from Rudaba, for Tayyaba. He starts getting close to Rudaba, who considers him "BHAI", to create hatred in Buland's heart for Rudaba. Buland, feeling sick of Rudaba's closeness to Bashar, ignores Rudaba. Rudaba realizes intentions of Bashar, and clears misunderstandings between her and Buland.

Once, when Bashar knows Buland is coming to meet Rudaba, he comes out of Rudaba's bathroom unexpectedly to Rudaba in presence of Buland. Once more when Buland comes to meet Rudaba, he turns off power supply, and Rudaba, coming to meet Buland, accidentally says what she planned to say to Buland. Buland sees all this and, heartbroken, returns to America. Soon Adil returns, and Rudaba comes back to his home. Bashar tells Adil that he wants to marry Rudaba.

Saira and Bashar convince Adil, without letting him talk to Rudaba, that Rudaba and Bashar were too involved, manipulating the fact that Buland returned to America because he had no interest in the marriage. Meanwhile, Rudaba emails Buland the truth that Bashar did all so that Tayyaba could marry him. Adil agrees for Rudaba's nikah with Bashar. A day before nikah, Rudaba tells her brother of the truth. Back in the office, Adil isn't able to refuse for nikah in the fear of Bashar's power. On nikah's ceremony Buland is back after reading the email. After nikah, Bashar forces Rudaba to tell Buland that she actually loved Bashar and kept him as a second option in case Bashar didn't marry her. Coming to know this Buland marries Tayyaba. After a few months, Tayyaba is pregnant but Rudaba's rukhsaty is being ignored. On Adil's suggestion, Saira talks to Bashar about rukhsaty, who tells her that he will divorce Rudaba, because he cannot marry a woman who has been in love with some other man.

Adil is infuriated when Bashar announces in a live program that he is single. He comes to argue with Bashar who is steadfast to divorce Rudaba. Adil threatens that if Bashar divorces Rudaba, he will also divorce Saira. Adil leaves Saira with Bashar and comes to live in his father's home, saying that he'd back-step only if Bashar marries Rudaba. Buland comes yo know about the truth that Rudaba had been forced, and offers Rudaba to divorce Tayyaba after delivery, and they'd marry again. Bashar comes to know about their plan, and decides not to divorce Rudaba. He says sorry to Adil, and marries Rudaba. Back in home, Buland flies to America, leaving Tayyaba behind. Bashar takes unsatisfied with the marriage takes revenge from Rudaba and treats her harshly. In these circumstances Rudaba falls in love with Bashar. Bashar also feels attracted towards her due to her innocence.

On his father's anniversary Bashar fulfills everyone's wishes. Rudaba also wants ask him for something, he doesn't want to hear her wish, because he thinks she'd ask for divorce. But she asks him to take away his harsh attitude from over her, and give her a normal life. He does so, but keeps his distance from her. She tries to tell him that she loves him, but he doesn't believe in her.

Bashar'd play piano every night and think of his mother, who left his father and her four children in love with her old college mate Zafar. While he loves Rudaba for her beauty and innocence, he also doesn't thinking of her as his mother. He fears that Rudaba would also do so in love with Buland.One day he notices Rudaba seeing her in piano room, and he screams at her. Rudaba falls faint. Doctors tell that she's pregnant. Bashar fears that Rudaba will leave his son as his mother had done, and convinces her to drink juice that contains drugs that cause abortion. Rudaba is very angry at him. He regrets his decision and starts loving her.

Due to corruption reasons, a raid is carried out on his house, but Bashar just flees in time. Rudaba, angry at Bashar stays at home. In a TV conference Tayyaba says that Bashar is corrupt and cause of trouble for her. In contrast Rudaba says that she loves her husband and doesn't believe in Buland's rallys that she has been forced to marry him. Bashar's unexpressed love for Rudaba is strengthened and he surrenders. For political reasons and his influential power he is spared of the punishment. He returns home and starts life with Rudaba. Tayyaba's son is born and Buland comes to live with her, after Bashar tell him of his relationship with Rudaba, and advises him to live happy with what he has.

Bashar takes Rudaba to his father's grave, and during return leaves his ring with BM stamp on the grave.

  • Bashar Momin
Bashar is a rich, money laundering businessman. Faisal Qureshi [16] plays Bashar, who is involved in corruption and uses wrong means to earn money. He loves his two sisters and does anything for them.
  • Rudaba:
Adil's younger sister and Bashar's future wife. Ushna Shah [17] plays the role of Rudaba, who brother married Sahira, Bashar's sister. Rudaba is initially engaged to her father's best friend's son but circumstances turn upon her when her father is murdered during a robbery.
  • Buland Bakhtyar:
Originally engaged to Rudaba but later marries Bashar's younger sister, Tayyaba.
  • Sahira Momin:
Sahira is the elder sister of Bashar and is the wife of Adil, brother of Rudaba. Maheen Rizvi plays the role of Sahira, who is very loudmouthed and cunning. Being in the shadow of Bashar she boasts of her wealth and tries to create differences between her husband and his sister.
  • Tayyaba Momin:
Tayyaba is the younger sister of Bashar, portrayed by Sundas Tariq, Tayyaba is very rude and very proud. Her two engagements have been broken due to her brother's black-affairs and business. Bashar fulfilles each demand of Tayyaba, he forces Buland to marry Tayyaba on request of his sister, otherwise Rudaba has to face the consequences of his negative response.
  • Adil Qureshi:
Yasir is the elder brother of Rudaba and husband of Bashar's elder sister, Sahira. The role of Adil is played by Yasir Mazher who rose to stardom after his serial Aun Zara. Adil is a henpecked husband and favors Bashar in every matter until he is forced to stand up against Bashar for the sake of Rudaba's love.
  • Pareezah Qureshi:
She is the only child of Adil and Sahira, played by Mariyam Khalif, a child artist.
  • Bakhtiyar:
Father of Buland Bakhtiyar and ex father-in-law of Rudaba, who dies in a robbery. Played by legendary actor, Anwar Iqbal.
  • Qureshi:
Father of Rudaba and ex father-in-law of Buland, who dies in a robbery along with Buland's father. Played by legendary actor, Shehryar Zaidi.

Bashar Momin is produced by A&B Entertainment. The drama has been written by Zanjabeel Asim and directed by Syed Ali Raza. Director of photography is Syed Adnan Bukhari, associate director is Tahseen Khan while the production designer is Tehmina Lodhi.[9] It will soon air in India on Zindagi under the title Aks.

The theme song of Bashar Momin was composed by Waqar Ali, background music by Mohsin Allah Ditta and edited by Faizan Ghori. All songs are produced by Asif Raza Mir and Babar Javed by A & B entertainment. The song is sung by the talented Nida Arab & Abu Muhammad. The lyrics were penned down by Ali Moin. Bashar Momin compromises total of four songs including its theme song, this first of its kind music album for Pakistani Drama serial ever written before. All the album credits are separately mentioned and credited by the Serial management. The music tracks receive favourable reviews and got wide critical acclaim, due to different arranging of music sections it is widely reported and enjoyed the limelight of media. Except the theme song of the serial, all the other music tracks are sung by various Artists, where the Music has been composed by Sherry Raza, Zaki, Shahbaz, Raheel, Asim and Saqib, lyrics penned down by S.K Khalish, Sherry and Amir Khusro, while sung by Sherry Raza, Asim and Saqib Ali Taji.[18][19]

Sequel

In 2018, news came out that a sequel of Bashar Momin is in progress, of which Faysal Qureshi said in his Instagram video that it is being planned for a 2019 release.
