Bahman is the second month of winter, and is followed by Esfand.[1]
Bahman is thought to be a derivative modern form of "Vohu Manah", but in modern Persian "Bahman" literally means "Snow Avalanche". "Vohu Manah" means "superb mind/spirit". It is associated with "pure consciousness". It comes from the Avestan "Vohu" meaning "goodness" which comes from the verbal root "Vah" meaning "to love", and from the Avestan "Manah" which comes from the root "Man" meaning "mind/spirit". "Manah" is "the power to see, know, imagine".
