First generation (F39; 2018–present)
The F39 is the first generation X2, and is based on the UKL architecture that is shared with other BMW and MINI models.[2] It is based on the BMW Concept X2 shown at the 2016 Paris Motor Show followed by an online unveiling of the final production model on 25 October 2017.[3] Models are available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive xDrive, and initial engines include turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol and 4-cylinder petrol and diesel models.[4]
