The municipality covers an area of 6.72 square kilometres (2.59 sq mi) and as of 2015 it had a population of 973. First written notice about the village is from year 1310 (as part of a donation to the monastery "Klášter na Ostrově u Davle", written on the deed of the Pope Clement V ). The land of municipality is adjacent to the river Vltava. The number of permanent residents is today constantly growing. This is done by converting holiday cottages to permanently occupied villas. The number of cottages is over 2000, so the actual number of inhabitants in the season is much higher than the number of permanent residents. The village can be reached by regular transport from Prague, but it is impassable for cars (a dead end), but you can through bicycle.
