Applewood Heights Secondary School

Applewood Heights Secondary School (AHSS) is a public secondary school in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and is part of the Peel District School Board. The school serves around thirteen hundred students with over a hundred teachers and school staff. Applewood is one of only 3 high schools in Mississauga that offers a French immersion program (also Streetsville Secondary School and Clarkson Secondary School). Applewood also offers a Specialist High Skills Major in Sports,[1] as well as a Regional Sports program.[2] The school commenced operations in 1966. Several portable classrooms were added in the late 1980s and early 1990s to serve the (then) 1800+ students, but decreasing enrolment occurring around the turn of the millennium led to their removal. According to the school website, in September 2010 Applewood changed to a semester school leaving Meadowvale Secondary School as the last remaining non-semester school in the Peel District School Board.
