Anita Das

Anita Das (1 October 1951 – 11 May 2018) was a popular veteran film actress in the Odia cinema and a well known television serial actress.[1] She also received 3 Odisha State Film Awards during her active career. Anita died of a cardiac arrest which resulted from a heart attack on 11 May 2018 at the age of 66.[2]

Career

Anita Das made her acting debut with the Odia film, Jajabara where she played the lead role in 1975 and predominantly appeared in more than hundred movies since then, mostly in supporting roles as a mother. She was quite popular for essaying the role of mother in most of her films after 1980's.[3]

Anita Das also received the Odisha State Film Award (Best Actress) for her acting in the film, Tapasya in 1980 and also received the prestigious award again for her lead role in the 1983 film, Bhakta Salabeg.[4] She also won the Odisha State Film Award for Best supporting actress criteria in 1987 for her acting in the film, Eai Ta Dunia.

Death

On 10 May 2018, Anita Das was reportedly complaining about her health conditions to her nephew Akash Dasnayak who is also an actor as well as a politician.[5] Anita Das was suffering from vomiting and with heart and chest pains on Thursday night before going to sleep. On the next day (11 May 2018) she was found dead after her nephew rushed to call a doctor to consult her for treatments.[6]
